As the Days of the Dead quickly approach, many of you have inquired about places to celebrate in your area. The 3rd annual Dia de los Muertos Parade and Vigil will be held in Walker Square Park in Milwaukee, Wis., on November 2nd starting at 5pm. The staging and set-up begins at 3pm and all are welcome. Visit Dia De Los Muertos Milwaukee for more information, directions and photos from previous years.
This event is exactly the kind of thing that is happening in more communities around the world every year. People are sharing their love of this holiday with friends and neighbors and making their own traditions. If you live in the Milwaukee area and can make it, I am sure you will not only have a great time but you will also have the chance to learn about the tradition. Most importantly, the reason for this season gives everyone an opportunity to share stories of their beloved deceased.
If you are unfortunate enough to not live near a large gathering or event this year, then we suggest you host your own Day of the Dead gathering. For more information of how to launch your own celebration, visit some of our older postings by clicking on the “Day of the Dead Info” category to the right. This holiday is open to everyone because death is something we all have in common.
